Wow! What a powerful book. I could not put it down. I feel most people do not have any idea about the partisans who fought the Nazis in Europe during WWII.

When you read about the holocaust, it is only about the Jews and other Eastern Europeans being herded into boxcars and sent to death camps. No one tells the stories of those who escaped that fate, lived in the forests as commandos and wreaked havoc on Germans and Nazi collaborators.

Maybe that's because so few of them ever told the story. If the author hadn't been related to one of the most powerful and charismatic leaders of this underground, this story too would have died with those who lived it and remained silent.
