Barely was able to finish - Rkh -
Rarely have I felt the need to give such a bad review. I enjoy historical fiction as a fun read, so don't necessarily expect the highest quality of writing. However, this was simply painful. I should have given it up several times along the way but for some unknown reason trudged through it. Big mistake!

Book Review - Never Surrender by LTG (Ret) William G Boykin

Ok, here's another good book that I just plowed in one day. I think I read that thing in about 7 hours with 368 pages. wow! So if this gives you an indication of how interesting this book was, so take note. My overall impression was that Boykin, a special operations hero who has sacrificed a lot for this country. And after all that he has and what he has lived at the end took a group of journalists who wanted to take a cheap shot at the Bush administration has screwed byBoykin and attacking his religious beliefs. And they succeeded.

Boys was a religious man, and that's what the media has decided with his dagger and twist-stick. Just because you wear a uniform does not mean that your right to religious freedom goes out the door. And guys have to be after I'm done with him as a crusader. And to take this hit piece of cyberspace, then all hell broke loose. He and his family were threatened by some Muslim extremists PagesIt 'been fired from his job in DC, and his good name was dragged through the mud.

Now I personally do not so religious. But I respect the religious convictions of a person are, and for some soldiers and contractors, is the belief in God, what is all day. The book describes Boykin, as it was in those early days of the group and goes to some of the details and logic behind the selection process. (What I found very interesting)

As you progress through the book, he goes on with his life in the world Special Operations. He was involved with the mission of the hostages in Iran, Grenada, Operation JustCause and rescue of Kurt Muse, Somalia, hunting war criminals in Bosnia, Wacko and the Branch Davidian incident, hunting and Pablo Escobar. He also talks about his injuries, leaving behind a .50 cal around the arm and shrapnel of Grenada in Somalia. All the while, he remained faithful to his people, country and God

One last thing to bring only get an idea of the type of material in this book. Children often tells the true story behind all these great events of our recentThe story since Vietnam. Puts the rumors about the commitment idiot Wacko Delta and the death of Pablo Escobar is not alone. He goes into detail why they consider rock music actually used during Operation Just Cause / Noriega and the negotiations behind the scenes to save the Kurt Muse. "Chosen by a Horse" by Susan Richards is a story for anyone who has ever loved an animal. I do not think that a horse and I have only driven once, but I was easily involved in the story of Richard - a memoir inspired by the impact of an abused horse in a woman with a traumatic past.

Susan Richards had worked three horses and a full-time job, but to take one of the forty maltreated horses rescued from the SPCA agreed. Later, he lived in Athens through the dark days of the dictatorship when his political life led back to secret alliances made during the civil war and the earlier occupation, back to murder, starvation and corpse-filled quarries. Lastly he describes the country through the mature eyes of a family man, with the ripened sensibility of an acclaimed poet. This is a precious fusion of experience and insight from one philhellene to all those who have come to love Greece.

This is an engaging read that affords a picture a Greece from after the Second World War through the military dictatorship of the 1960's. Levi, who was a Jesuit priest, archeologist and poet, is an ideal commentator on Greece's sacred past and profane present of those years. This is a good companion to Durrell and Miller.

Galeazzo Ciano

Biographies of some chapters, you only understand the meaning after reading a few. The cover of the biography will help to understand why a person's life was important. In this case, it is no secret that Count Ciano in (writing) habit that developed valuable for understanding the development of the (first) World War II demonstrated.

The story could begin better to disclose this fact in the prologue, Edda, the (favorite), daughter of El Duce, he fled to Switzerlandwith the five diaries of the war. There will be a flashback. The first chapter begins 14 years earlier.

I have only read a few hundred pages. Well written and well laid out, the book follows the Irish conflict from that 60's thru present. Actual interviews are scripted and the nuts & bolt details are revealed as to why certain things were handled the way they were. An excellent first hand recount of events.

For some reason I'm not exactly clear, I did not really find biographies or autobiographies of interest that does not mean that there are interesting people out there, there. For some reason I can not read that others find it interesting. This book is an exception.

In this autobiography, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson says one of his prime business criteria is "fun."
