Five reasons for more biographies

Mark Twain wrote: "The man who does not read good books are no better than the man who can 't."

Walt Disney said: "There is more wealth in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island."

And more recently, taught Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss), says "More, more things will be more to know. The more you learn, the more places you` ll go. "

I share these quotes with you for two reasons. First, I think, and tell me with any of them. Secondly,Read biographies about each of these men, I know that in practice what they preach in these lines.

I know that in this short article, I will probably won `t be able to convince to become a reader of books, if you try already 'in the past (although I Clock). My aim is more modest. My goal is to choose to read a short biography. I think the experience will have a much deeper, is an avid reader and serve as a more convincing argument for youall the words I can place in front of you now.

Most people tend to read books to promote a certain kind of book they have. Some of you reading novels, some even focus on a specific genre like science fiction or mysteries,. Some laws of self-help or personal growth. Some read and very largely to focus exclusively on their career field.

Reading a great biography (or autobiography) can be as exciting as your favorite thriller, more valuable and useful lessons to offer the mostBestselling self-help, which offers professional development and more wisdom than you probably are.

But I'm myself.

Here are five reasons for choosing to read a biography is a choice that will benefit you in many ways.

Five Reasons

They allow you to stand on the shoulders of giants. In 1670 Sir Isaac Newton wrote in a letter to his friend Robert Hooke, "If I see further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." This is exactlyReading, you can do that, for biographies - allowing you to others, what these people have achieved since. Although not all biographies are a giant, but most (and it can certainly choose from this list). But even if the person you `re-reading is about reprehensible and worthy of praise or admiration, it is clear probably still many lessons from their life experiences and practices - even though most do" things that you don `t I want. "

They emphasize thatHistory repeats itself. George Santayana wrote in 1905: "Who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." While it was long before the time was true, and is not `t changed since then. Reading the real experiences of the other is the context for decisions and the consequences we all face. History (recent or distant) is repeated, because those who are making history, were and are human. One of the best ways to discover the good of others must be taken byReading the biographies of historical figures, not academic tomes on history.

It promotes self-discovery. A good self-help book or a professional development outline concrete steps, tools, techniques and approaches to try. This may help to link important and successful, improvements and results in almost every area of your life. A biography on the other side won `t be as direct. You can get ideas and strategies to discover themselves through stories andThe experience of others. This discovery learning is often more satisfactory, and most of the more prolonged, than to read a list of steps.

They allow you to see the world in new ways. Instead of focusing entirely on your professional discipline, and seemed to consider as you and your colleagues always do, reading someone from a different era, has a different background or a completely different set of life experiences give new perspectives. In truth, most largeTaking innovations from the idea of a situation or discipline the industry and the adjustment to come to another. Reading biographies is a great way to do this.

They provide mentoring from a distance. If you are the life of Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, Churchill or anyone else you choose, check out a glimpse into his soul had, and now have the advantage, or "know" them. These people can be your remote tutor if you can think of as a possibleAdvice that might give you, or what might have in a situation or choice you are facing.

We hope that these five reasons that gave rise to at least think of a biography in the near future! Think of a person I always find it interesting or fascinating although I'm not really sure why. Then find a book about them (or start writing them) and!

You will not regret. You will probably find more reasons to add biographies of your personal reading list is, becausepleasant and profitable for you.
