Lee Child - Author biographies

Lee Child (aka Jim Grant) was born 1954 in Coventry, England. When Lee was four, his parents moved the family Handsworth Wood in Birmingham. Says it was a tough guy in a tough neighborhood, grew in size at a young age.

Although Lee Child did not get the bug to write until the age of 35 years, loved the library and was a voracious reader. He says there were only two channels on TV back in the day, and the lack of alternative entertainment,read. He says he was bitten by the bug mystery still loved as a teenager and the series of books.

Lee Child has studied law at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield, England, although he never intended for a lawyer. He says: "The study of law is a frame of reference are streetwise." In 2008, Lee was invited as a visiting professor at his alma mater, the University of Sheffield. He received an honorary doctorate in 2009. Lee funded 52 university scholarships Jack Reacher. Lee Child was elected president of the Mystery Writers of America organization in 2009.
