Jim Kuhn, executive assistant of the President
Publisher: Sentinel 2004
As the personal assistant to a U.S. president who is probably the most popular? This book opens our eyes to the logistics involved in a presidential election campaign, as well as the daily life of the White House. Written from the perspective of the Executive Assistant to the President, who has worked in this case, two presidential campaigns of Ronald Reagan as an advance man, isunbelievable, disclosed everything in a "date" or a "look" of the president.
Certainly there are insights personality and behavior of President Reagan and Mrs. Reagan, in his book, and personal anecdotes, but this is not a tell-all "or biography of the man. Jim Kuhn is one die-hard fan of Reagan, "and you will not find a negative word about them in the book. The author spent day and night, or very close to the president for four yearsand is still only praise for his boss.
I found the section on negotiations with Mikhail Gorbachev in 1985 and 1986 are of particular interest from the standpoint of personal assistant. There were a number of details during meetings, contributing significantly to the results appeared. It 'was also enlightening to hear the response of President Reagan, where the talks stopped and the result seemed to escape. If you enjoy reading history or real people and real events, thisis a better "light reading" are.
