Stolen Fields by Jean Boggio - Book Review

Colerith Press (2008)
ISBN 9780979933042

"Fields stolen" is a story of the American Dream gone wrong. It 's a story of hatred, resentment, ambition and greed. There is also a story of "What If" and "If Only". What if expropriation had not taken ownership of Cole? If only Cole's grandfather was able to build his business thriving?

Jean tells of growing up as a descendant of a strong will and a family living Cole. In the early chapters gives the reader aUnderstanding of the historical and Coles hard working conditions and the economic success of fertile farm Neville Island near Pittsburgh. The Cole Farm Neville Iceland was known as a "market basket of Pittsburgh."

Jean Boggio consistently and equitably divided the two sides of a story. I was tied to the family, as I have heard stories shared by Jean cheerful gossip passed on from one generation to another, rather than reporting on two completely different perspectivesthe facts collected.

Between 1918 and 1919 towards the end of World War II was the U.S. government with a plan to rival the German plants, provided the ammunition for the German giant Krupp. Neville Iceland was chosen for the location of the project. Government officials have called the process of expropriation, the property for public use to take. The project had just begun when the armistice was signed. the country's government is no longer necessary. It 'was put onpublic auction.

The Cole family devastated by the loss of the house, was in the family for over a century ago, in an attempt to negotiate a fair market price instead. After the fear of harassment and arson, were forced to accept the price fixed by the government.

newspaper accounts of his family and the sources of historical research and their own memories courtesy Jean Boggio the material on behalf of this remarkable Iceland and the Coles of NevilleImpact of expropriation on the dreams of their parents, their children and, finally, to the generations that follow. Although there are feelings of hatred, bitterness and members of the Cole family, theirs is a journey that resonates with a sense of accomplishment, pride and promise.

This is a nice nostalgic trip back in time. Jean vivid descriptions draw the reader into the experience of being a part of his childhood farm in Sandy Lake. It has theamazing ability to transform everyday circumstances and events in an entertaining, often funny stories that resonate with simplicity, warmth and reality. Jean uses flashbacks of his childhood. It reveals details of his relationship with his sister, his parents, grandparents, Aunt Gladys, Uncle Robert, Uncle Ned, and their cousins. These colorful characters provide dramatic word pictures bringing an enthusiasm for life otherwise routine for the Coles of Neville Iceland. The family photos can be illustrated by the whole book for events. These pictures add another dimension and a sense of connection with the Cole family.

I particularly liked the opening Jean relations college and her first experiences in New York City. As an aspiring actress, was in tune with the culture beatnik. I appreciate your letter positive in the light of the love story gone wrong, gone amok family relationships and personal goals not achieved. Jean won a largeRange of experience working in offices in the field of education and, finally, in the medical field as a nurse.

Strong writing, thorough research and an objective look at the greed that often accompanies the process of expropriation "Stolen Fields" a significant contribution to the history and future of the restructuring process is often misunderstood and misused.

As a writer, memoir by Jean Boggio is a talented storyteller. Your vivid descriptions and characterizationsensure that the enjoyment of his writing still linger long after reading the last chapter. "Fields stolen" is a rich and enjoyable reading experience.

Book Review - Eat, Pray, Love

"There's a reason we refer to the" leap of faith "- because the decision of any notion of divinity, a mighty leap from the consent of the rational is unknowable, and I do not care how diligently scholars of every religion tries to share. Check with the stack of books and other written proof, their faith is rational, in fact, is not whether faith was rational, it is not - by definition faith -. "

Eat, Pray, Love Elizabeth tells bits DetailedGilbert's sabbatical from their familiar world to one year of his life in travel and soul searching paid. Gilbert, the author is jumping out of the rules when their marriages end in divorce is decided to leave work and travel in three different countries to come to terms with himself.

Incidentally, these three countries all start with "I" - Italy, India and Indonesia. For four months in each country, Elizabeth tried to learn new things. In Italy she learned the joy of eatingand speak Italian. In India, they themselves become a meditation camp, where he found his own narrow definition of prayer. Finally, Indonesia has sought to strike a balance between the land and the divine.

How many of us could really make? If I can summarize this book in one word, I'd say it's all a matter of faith. And it is not only great faith in a transcendent being, but in my opinion, even more faith in himself against all forms of rationality.

I am foreverlooking for my God, I can trust and depend on. To my disappointment, I have a very passive traveler in this temporary world. So, is the main reason why I am totally taken from the book by Elizabeth Gilbert Eat, Pray, Love. You do not want to wait for all the great and dramatic changes in themselves instead changed their lives by small and rather boring first.

Elizabeth Gilbert has enchanted me with his story very open that I have only heard stories on the other hand feltreading. I loved his honesty as 23 pounds, because all the food in Italy played to their physical sex, not a dead end. Perhaps their only honesty of its strengths is that it has led to a very great change. After all, it all begins with the acceptance of uncertainty and concern.

By the way, Eat Pray Love is now a film. And 'being shown at this year's Julia Roberts.

Because I read the biographies - American Caesar

There are many good reasons to read the biographies: for more people to read their roots suspended in the secret of their success and to seek inspiration from their bad behavior in These are all good reasons, but usually read biographies of laziness and gossip.

The greatest biography in English is probably still "Boswell's Life of Johnson." It 'a very famous and very dense book, but it's also very funny.

InBoswell's Life of Johnson, you learn a lot about the social habits of these people worshiped in ancient times (for "read the social habits'-sex, eat, drink and entertainment) and daily life before the inventions we take for granted ( such as bathrooms and hot water).

The biography of the most successful of modern times is the life of Kitty Kelley's controversial Frank Sinatra, it seems more millions of copies have been sold than any other biography.

For theGenerations, and he knew admired Sinatra, is a fascinating book. And Sinatra, each page is hated.

Laziness is a big motivation for me, because I want to go to work this hard without the history. So, on this approach to the subject of one of the great books - and the biggest revelations - for me, "American Caesar" by William Manchester. [Little, Brown & Company, 1978]

If I saw a book titled "History of the Philippines, Japan and Southeast Asia 1932-1948" I certainlyhave gone through.

If I had seen, have a book called "The Last King of Japan 'would not understand the title and is likely to remain on the shelf.

But this is the life of Douglas MacArthur is a war hero, the architect of modern Japan, the savior of the Philippines and much more. He was held by a long way the most powerful American, the Office of the President and this book shows how he did it. It 'an incredible story, but it's true.

The voices, some of which provided by the infamousDismissal by President Truman and the "cast" of its President, who were, of course, its commander in chief and never wanted to be second to none. His treatment of his superior, General George Marshall and military employees, a man named Dwight D. Eisenhower was also surprising.

And certainly the most famous generals like George Patton thought they were powerful, until it is in this soldier, prophet, Super Manager, selfish, half god and symbol come.

If hewas completely crazy, as some historians think so detection of this book, it was crazy like a fox. They had this book as a biography, because their sales had no choice - is the true life of an extraordinary man. If he had tried to sell it as fiction, nobody would have thought.

For the lazy student of the history of this masterpiece of the famous William Manchester state and fills in the history of South-east Asia and the Pacific in World War II in acomprehensive and fascinating journey.

Book is a Joke! - xxxxx -
Personally knowing the author, Wayne Theodore, I can tell you that this book is a joke. He is not a survivor but still an abuser to all that come in contact with him, even to his own children. This book was written as another one of his get rich quick schemes. I think that it is discusting that this book is being used in schools for kids when Wayne himself, as he portrays himself, is nothing but an abuser.

I urge anyone thinking of purchasing this book to do their research on this man to find out the truth themselves.
